Does the library have wireless printing?

305 views   |   1 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Nov 04, 2021    Printing

Scarborough Library is testing its mobile printing service right now. We cannot guarantee it will work.

Please note: Only Shepherd University students, faculty and staff can use mobile printing.

To use mobile printing, you will need to send the document(s) you want to print as attachment(s) to printBW@shepherd.edu or printColor@shepherd.edu (for black and white, and color respectively) from your Shepherd email.

Here are the steps:

1. Login to your Shepherd email.
2. Start a new message
To: printBW@shepherd.edu (for black and white) OR printColor@shepherd.edu (for color)
    Subject: Not required
Attachment: Attach the file(s) you want to print. Maximum is 2 documents. If you have more than 2, send more emails. Please note: documents online, like OneDrive or Google Docs, must be downloaded to the hard drive before attaching.
Email Body: Keep it empty (no words, images or signatures), otherwise it will be sent as a page.
The supported file formats: Microsoft Office® documents
                                                   Microsoft Outlook® files
                                                   PDF files
                                                   Images (JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP)
Text files (CSV, RTF & TXT)
                                                   OpenOffice documents
3. Send and wait for the confirmation email (normally it just takes a few seconds). Make sure there is a green check mark in the status field next to your file name.
4. Go to the printer near the Public Services Desk or the B&W printer on the 3rd floor.
5. Swipe your Rambler card and make sure you have enough money on your card.
6. Select your job from the print queue and print.
7. Click on the   button on the bottom of the screen to log out after you are done.

355 views   |   0 Vote this question as useful.   0 Vote this question as not useful.   |   Last updated on Jun 29, 2020    Ask-a-Librarian Text Messaging

Scarborough Library has a new text message reference service. You can send the Library questions via text message (SMS), and a librarian will text you back with an answer.

How do I use Text a Librarian?

It’s easy. Just follow three simple steps:

  1. Text your question to (681) 201-4898*

  2. A librarian will respond as soon as possible!

  3. Save us in your contacts and text us when you’re on the go.

*This number is for text only. To call the Library, dial (304) 876-5421 .

When can I text the Library?

The text reference service will be available during the regular reference hours:

Fall & Spring Semesters
Sunday 4 p.m.- 7 p.m.
Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.- 7 p.m.
Friday 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Summer and Intersessions
Monday-Friday 10 a.m.- 12 p.m.

If you text us after hours, your question will be answered when the next shift begins.

If the Library is closed for a holiday, weekend, event, or weather emergency, Text a Librarian will not be available.

How much does it cost?

The Library doesn’t charge a fee for using Text a Librarian; however, standard messaging and data charges from your cell phone service provider may apply.

Who is answering my texts?

Text a Librarian is staffed by reference librarians who work at Scarborough Library. We are real people (not robots!). So go ahead and text us. We're always happy to help!

You will need to login to one of the lab computers. Library has both black and white printers and a color printer. Once you send your jobs to either one of the printer, you'll need to go to the Pharos release station located along the wall outside the Room 256. You will need your Rambler card or a community card to release the job. Follow the instruction on the touch screen.
